A new flagship research centre, to be located in a new Advanced Engineering Building currently under construction at the University of Queensland, will provide Queensland manufacturers with unprecedented access to expertise, facilities and capabilities in all areas of materials technology and the manufacturing processes needed to turn these materials into products.
A recent seminar at UQ highlighted the capabilities, facilities and services available to support the food processing industry and also illustrated the current research themes across a number of faculties.
The 11th Pacific Polymers Conference was held at the Cairns Convention Centre from 6-10 December 2009. As part of QMI Solutions mission to identify new technologies applicable to Queensland industry, its Technology Specialist attended to hear about the latest developments in polymer materials, processing and applications. Over 850 Australian and international delegates attended the 4-day conference, which contained over 900 presentations and posters. Some of the key presentations are summarised below.

In this month's Research Spotlight we will highlight some of the world-class facilities available to Queensland companies at the Australian National Fabrication Facility (ANFF) Queensland node, located at the St Lucia campus, University of Queensland (UQ). These specialist services and equipment may help to solve some of the fundamental and next generation materials and manufacturing issues that industry is facing.
