Our Skills Division, known as Manufacturing Skills Queensland (MSQ), is an initiative of the Queensland Government’s Department of Education and Training (DET). As part of the Queensland Skills Plan, DET established a number of Centres of Excellence for Queensland industry. MSQ is the Centre of Excellence for skills development in the manufacturing and engineering industry.
MSQ leads and influences the manufacturing and engineering industry in skill-related matters – from industry strategy and business process to smarter workforce management. MSQ ensures that skill needs are identified at local, regional and state levels while ascertaining training priorities, suitable training products and ideal training delivery methods.
MSQ is a partnership between industry and government to foster coordination and leadership from within industry, and strengthen the role of employers in overcoming skills shortages.
MSQ assists Queensland manufacturers to develop skilling to encourage an industry-owned and driven skilling agenda to address the key skills development and formation challenges facing Queensland manufacturers. MSQ then helps them employ skilling strategies to strengthen the global competitiveness of the State’s manufacturing industry.
